History
Founded in 1891, Yukon’s roots stretch back to the days of the Oklahoma Land Run and the rise of the railroad. It was named after the Yukon Territory in Canada during the Gold Rush era as a symbol of opportunity and promise. Uniting past and present, Route 66 runs right through the heart of Yukon. Today, Yukon is a thriving suburban community with deep roots and a bright future.
Yukon is the Czech capital of Oklahoma thanks to the large number of Czechs who moved to the area in the late 1800s. The town’s Czech roots remain strong to this day. Every Friday night, you can visit the Yukon Czech Hall for polka dancing and traditional Czech treats. Each October, Yukon hosts the Oklahoma Czech Festival, the largest free outdoor celebration in the state! Someone pass the kolaches!
