Vernon McKown, CEO and Co-Founder

Vernon McKown is founder and CEO of Ideal Homes and Neighborhoods based in Norman, Oklahoma. As one of the largest home builders in Oklahoma, Ideal Homes and Neighborhoods has built more than 12,000 homes focused on energy efficiency, excellence, and community. 

Ideal Homes and Neighborhoods is recognized as one of America’s top private homebuilding companies and McKown is recognized nationally as one of the top executives in his field. Under the leadership of McKown and his partners, Ideal Homes and Neighborhoods has received national recognition and awards for both the quality of their homes and corporate culture within the company. Ideal Homes and Neighborhoods is the recipient of the nation’s three most prestigious homebuilding awards, the National Housing Quality Gold Award, America’s Best Builder, and National Builder of the Year.

McKown previously served as board president of the National Energy and Environmental Builders Association and is a frequent speaker at the International Builders’ Show, Pacific Coast Building Conference, and Energy and Environmental Association national conference. He is a certified instructor through the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission and currently teaches a free continuing education class for local Real Estate professionals entitled, “Evaluating Green, Efficient, and High Performance New Home Construction.”

He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He and his wife Ronda Chapman McKown have two children. McKown is an avid athlete and outdoorsman who recently hiked the mountains of Alaska.
