Bringing a Little Color to Life
June 3, 2024
South Central CASA of Oklahoma is a nonprofit organization that has operated in Cleveland County for 40 years. During this time, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has served hundreds of abused and neglected children by offering members of the community opportunities to volunteer and help support the organization.
This wonderful group of volunteers are dedicated to improving the lives of children in the foster care system through Cleveland, Garvin and McClain counties. Each volunteer is screened and specially trained to provide a safe, stable and positive influence to these children, ensuring they have a voice in the court setting.
CASA approached Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods with the idea of producing a special book for the children they spend time with. Ronda McKown, Ideal's director of outreach ministry, and Heather Hartley, Ideal's senior creative specialist, worked together to design a coloring book for the children.
Ronda and Heather were thrilled to present the special coloring books and boxes of crayons to CASA.
"We are excited to provide their child advocates CASA coloring books to help break the ice when they meet their child for the first time," said Ronda. "A coloring book and box of crayons may sound like a small thing, but child advocates say it can make a big difference."
There are more than 150 children in need of a CASA volunteer and currently only 78 members to serve them. CASA is in need of volunteers and training will start on July 1. If you'd like to help assist CASA in their mission by becoming a member or donating, you can contact them here.
