First Friday Gallery Walk in Paseo Arts District

A special experience is available to historic Paseo Arts District visitors on the first Friday of every month:  First Friday Gallery Walk, one of Oklahoma City’s oldest art walks. More than 80 artists and more than 25 businesses and restaurants -- all within easy walking distance of each other -- stay open late (from 6 to 10 p.m.) to offer uniquely themed exhibits, refreshments, featured artists and various forms of entertainment. Located between NW 27^th and 30^th Streets, between Walker and Hudson, Paseo has long been recognized as a lively bohemian area and home base for Oklahoma City’s art community. First Friday provides an opportunity for Paseo galleries and studios to showcase artwork: either the latest efforts of the facilities’ owners, the creations of guest artists or a combination of the two. Many galleries also offer light refreshments. Musicians, dance groups and other performers work their special magic to add to the overall ambiance and help create a fun street scene. Even though Paseo is the permanent home to an eclectic and delicious mix of eateries, at least two food trucks are also on hand for every First Friday Gallery Walk. The food trucks vary from month to month. In addition to the art-related facilities and places to eat, Paseo also offers a bustling mix of trendy cocktail lounges and dive bars offering karaoke, billiards and live music on First Friday and other nights throughout the month. First Friday also provides fun entertainment for families. The Oklahoma City Astronomy Club hosts “Star Parties,” making it possible for attendees to explore the night sky, in addition to experiencing art and enjoying fabulous food and entertainment. The entire family is welcome at FirstFriday. Many Paseo restaurant patios and galleries are pet friendly . . . for those visitors who are careful to clean up after their furry companions. Even those who bring their pets but fail to bring along clean-up dispensers won’t have to cut their evening short. Paseo Pet Dispensers are sold at the Paseo Art Space. Additional shopping opportunities abound at First Friday Gallery Walk, for yourself or for the perfect gift. All the galleries and studios offer distinctive items. There’s also handcrafted jewelry, clothing and one-of-a-kind home décor at shops like Bonedust Cowgirl Gallery and Boutique. Admission to First Friday is free and free parking is ample in and around the Paseo Arts District.
