Meet Greg Rex, Director of Construction

Greg Rex, Director of Construction for Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods, has been at Ideal Homes for over 20 years. With a degree in construction management from Brigham Young University, he held the role as a builder for 18 year and is now one of three construction directors where he manages six builders that supervise construction.

“Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods empowers employees to become leaders and grow according to their particular skills, talents, and strengths. This company is known for fostering a leadership culture of personal growth while supporting and developing those around you. That is why I love to serve as a coach, developer, and trainer to the builders on my team,” Rex said.

“I’m most proud of the uniqueness of our building team,” says Rex. “Each member is an individual with different skills and ideas, and we have a tremendous culture of being open-minded and helping each other solve problems.”

Rex is a lifelong learner who strives to improve both personally and professionally every day. One example of Rex’s desire to help build future leaders is that he developed an internship program for construction students from local universities. The program is in its third year and offers interns an inside glimpse of what it is like working for a major home builder where they assist in managing job sites, scheduling, working with trades, and problem solving. 

“This summer, we had 12 students in our internship program and many of the interns are staying on part-time while they continue their education; others may come to work for us after they graduate,” says Rex.

The Rex family relocated to Oklahoma City from Mississippi over 20 years ago and he has been with Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods ever since. He and his wife, Dana, met at BYU after they had each completed church missions: he in Guatemala and she in Germany. Dana teaches high school German and they have 5 amazing children aged 11 to 22. Rex is very active in his church and enjoys working with youth. He has a real passion for giving back and appreciates Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods’ commitment to serve our community.
