Celebrating Women In Construction: Katie Webster, Assistant Builder

Katie Webster, Assistant Builder for Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods

Katie Webster came into construction by being part of an engineering battalion in the Oklahoma National Guard, but Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods isn't her first position in home building or remodeling. Previously she worked with one of our flooring vendors, Brewer Carpet One. After becoming a mother, she was ready to get back out in the field. "I kind of just wanted to get out from behind a desk and have an active job again," said Webster.

The construction field is slowly becoming less of a stereotypical job for men only. Webster encourages other women to apply for the Ideal Homes & Neighborhoods construction internship to come and try out a career path in construction and homebuilding. "I think it's awesome that they're (women are) starting to take those steps into these worlds," said Webster.
