October 9, 2023

Is there anyone who doesn’t enjoy the changing colors of fall? Probably not. Here’s what we’ve learned about the 2024 colors of the year so far. See the colors by clicking the individual links.

Sherwin-Williams • Upward (SW 6239)

Upward is a light, airy cool blue with the sky as its source of inspiration. This soft, beautiful color signifies a potential shift between color and wellness. While colors for the past several years have offered stability in a time of uncertainty, this breezy blue encourages homeowners to carve out time for themselves while returning to “normal” life. The folks at Sherwin-Williams love this color for areas where you just go to unwind a bit and disconnect, like bedrooms. It’s also a great companion of marbles and white tones in the bath.

Minwax • Bay Blue

Get a breezy, coastal feel or more of a moody, sophisticated aesthetic with Minwax’s Bay Blue stain. Ocean-inspired shades are rising in popularity, inspired by the coastal grandmother aesthetic hat sweeping home design right now. Minwax staff say Bay Blue is at the intersection of contemporary and classic. Think breezy, coastal-inspired deck to built-in bookshelves in your home library or den.

Glidden • Limitless

Glidden’s color of the year is a warm, nearly yellow neutral that can be paired with almost any color scheme. This beautiful honey beige was designed to blend with both warm and cool tones, though they’re embracing the warm-tone trend. The hue is both light and warm and can make spaces feel larger, brighter and more welcoming. Warm neutrals are here to stay!

Valspar • Renew Blue

Renew Blue by Valspar is a calming, meditative, green-influenced shade of soft sky blue. It’s incredibly versatile and an all-season shade inspired by earthy elements like fog, mist, clouds and glacier lakes. Renew Blue elevates your everyday mood, encourages self-expression and evokes balance and calm. Use this blue in a bathroom with coastal accents or pair it with bright white in the kitchen for a crisp, clean look with the perfect pop of color.

Behr • Cracked Pepper

Behr’s color of the year is Cracked Pepper (PPU18-1), a deep almost-black charcoal that adds drama and sophistication to any space. Adding a soft black projects a sense of confidence and individuality in any home. Cracked Pepper is neutral enough to adapt to any design style and also plays well with a variety of textures.

Dutch Boy • Ironside

Continuing the moody paint color trend, this deep olive shade is a grounding, statement-making neutral that’s perfect for cozy lounge spaces. Think bedrooms, dens and living rooms. The nature-inspired hue is all about embracing relaxation, individual style and living in the moment.
